Funeral services for Mr. William Roy Royster, Jr. will take place on Thursday, July 10, 2008 at 7:30pm at George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave. SW Aiken. The family will receive friends from 6pm until the time of the service. Graveside funeral services will take place on Friday at 11am at Bates Smith Cemetery, Athens, GA. Memorial donations may be directed to the charity of ones choice.
Mr. Royster, 79, of Windsor, SC died Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
Born in Athens, GA, he was the son of the late William Roy Royster, Sr. and Beatrice Hill Royster. Before retiring in 1985, he was the plant superintendent for International Mineral & Chemical Corp Rainbow Fertilizer, Northbrook, IL, where he had worked for 31 years. Being bored with retirement, he then moved to Tampa, FL and began working at Pak-Tank Corp, where he stayed until moving to Aiken in 1990. He is probably best known for being the owner of Wife Saver of Aiken, still owned by the family and operated by his son, Mike. Bill was a member of the South Georgia Bird Dog Association and never passed up the opportunity to talk about his dogs and horses.
Bill is survived by his wife, Wentsu Chen Royster, Windsor, two sons; William Roy Royster, III and his wife Marian, Aiken, and Mike and Melanie Royster, Aiken two daughters; Rebecca "Becky" Worthy, North Augusta and Nancy Sue Quattlebaum and her husband, Tim, Augusta, GA, their mother; Lou Royster, North Augusta and a sister; Nancy Anson, Jacksonville, FL. He is also survived by four grandsons, three granddaughters, two, great grandsons and one great granddaughter.
