Obituary of Debra June Jordan Cormany

Aiken, SC — Debra June Jordan Cormany, 61, died Tuesday, August 29, 2018 at the University Hospital in Augusta, Georgia, following an extended battle with cancer.

   She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Hank Cormany; one son, Patrick Cormany, and one daughter, Hope Cormany, both of Columbia; and two sisters, Barbara Keller of McCormick, and Mary McMillan of Aiken.

   Born in Aiken, and a lifelong resident, Debbie was the daughter of Garland Jordan and his wife Lillie Mae.  The youngest of five girls, Debbie was affectionately nicknamed “Junebug” by her father, she having been born in June.  A graduate of Aiken High School, Debbie went on to earn a degree from the University of South Carolina, majoring in photojournalism .

   Always filled with enthusiasm and drive, Debbie distinguished herself as a real-estate agent in Aiken for over 30 years.  She was possessed with a strong entrepreneurial, can-do spirit which she applied to all facets of her personal and professional life.

   One of Debbie’s great joys was her love of family roots.  In the last decade of her life, she passionately devoted herself to the development of the residence of her deceased Uncle J.B. in Wilkes County, NC, transforming the house into a vacation home for family and friends.

   Debbie was a great example of faith and determination in her struggle with multiple myeloma.  Her faith in God and the Spirit of Christ in her were bright, shining lights for all those whom she touched.

   The family will receive friends at George Funeral Home in Aiken on Friday, August 31, 5-7pm.  Funeral services will be held at George Funeral Home chapel on Saturday, September 1, at 11am.  Interment will follow at Aiken Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will include Joey Keller, Dick Vine, Gary Birchall, Tiernan McMillian, David Cormany, and Jim Cormany.
