Obituary of Stewart Bell Fox

Stewart Bell Fox, Jr. passed away at home on February 27. Stewart was born in Columbus GA and served in the U.S. Air Force in Libya before enrolling in Florida State University to complete undergraduate and graduate work in mathematical engineering. His 44-year career was spent in Washington, D.C. working for the U.S. government. Among his many achievements was service on Presidential commissions and in the year 2000 he and his wife, Rose Lee, retired from Alexandria VA to Aiken SC. Stewart is survived by his wife and his three children (Mike Fox of Stafford VA, Carol Jeffries of Helena MT, and John Fox of Springfield VA); four step-children (Deborah Geary of San Clemente CA, Michael Hayes of Campobello SC, Grady Hayes of Rochester NY, and Patrick Hayes of Austin TX) and his sister Josephine Curtis of Havanah FL). Stewart also leaves behind eight grandchildren and one great grandchild, all of Virginia. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy Fox Boyle of Potomac MD, and four brothers (Denny Fox of Springfield VA, Dick Fox of Augusta GA, Patrick Fox of Atlanta GA and Bob Fox of Columbus GA). Funeral services will be held at George Funeral Home on Monday, March 3 at 2:00 pm. Following the two-o'clock service friends will be welcomed at the family home at 616 Colleton Avenue SE.
