AIKEN, SC- Lucien C. Johnson, Jr., age 83, passed away Monday, June 22, 2015. He was born July 11, 1931 in Washington, PA, the only son of Lucien C. Johnson, Sr. and Viola Dallmeyer McCreary. Lou was a Sergeant in the Army, serving in the Korean War. Mr. Johnson received his BA from American University in Washington, D.C., his Masters degree from Colby College in Maine, and his Advanced Masters in Administration from VPI in Blacksburg, VA. He worked as a Chemist at SRS before becoming an educator. He taught and coached basketball at St. Angela Academy in Aiken, SC. He later went to teach at Wytheville Community College in Wytheville, VA and went on to teach in Ketchikan, Alaska. In Valdez, AK, he became Dean of the Faculty of Prince William Sound CC. He later moved to Nome, AK and became the President of Northwest College. Mr. Johnson enjoyed spending time with his children and golfing. His love of fishing, crabbing, and shrimping took place at his cabin in Loring, Alaska. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Mary Ann Sticca Johnson; two daughters, Pamela A. Neely (John), Abingdon, VA and Beth A. Hadaway (Marty), Rural Retreat, VA; two sons, Donald A. Johnson (Kathie), Ketchikan, AK and Michael H. Johnson, Lyles, TN; nine grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. He was of the Presbyterian faith. Private interment will be held in the Beaufort, SC National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Salvation Army or the Golden Harvest Food Bank in Aiken.
