Coach Johnson was a wonderful Teacher & coach, he begged me to play basketball but I was too shy, my legs were too skinny to be seen in shorts. He also caught me and my boyfriend in the backseat kissing durning the Prom. I was horrified he would tell the Nuns!! He didn't, I always respected him after that. God bless the family
How very sad... I have so many happy memories of my family times with The Johnsons, that's what I remember <3 I knew "Mr. Johnson" in his home and "Mrs Johnson" as my mom's dear friend and my teacher. Coach Johnson was a great guy to all of us Wytheville Community College basketball players. He was always a gentleman who treated us with respect. A big challenge was he had to figure out a way to coach us up against Garder Webb Junior College when they had Artis Gilmore on the team. My prayers a with the family during this difficult time.

as a teenager, i played basketball for coach johnson at saint angela in the 60's and highly respected him as a teacher and a man. when he came back to aiken, as an adult i played golf a couple of times with him and coach caver and got to know him as a friend. i hadn't seen coach in a number of years but remember him as if it was yesterday. he will be missed.
