Funeral services for Mr. Albert E. Cornetti will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2008 at 2pm at George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave. SW Aiken, SC. Interment will follow at Aiken Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be on Wednesday evening, at the funeral home from 6-8pm. Mr. Cornetti, 89, of Aiken, died Monday, September 1, 2008 at University Hospital in Augusta, GA. A son of Italian Immigrants, the late Ralph and Carolyn Tesauro Cornetti, he was born in Washington, PA and had lived in many locations across the Country before moving to Aiken in 1965. He graduated from Washington & Jefferson College, graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1940. He served his country during WW II and was honorably discharged as a Tech Sergeant with the Army Air Corps. He earned a masters Degree in English and a Masters degree in Letters from the University of Pittsburgh and taught at numerous high schools and colleges around the country, finally retiring as an English Professor at USC-Aiken in 1979 In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Mary R. Cornetti, who died in 2005. He is survived by a son, Riccardo R. Cornetti, Aiken and four grandchildren, Mary Beth Brett Laird, Aiken, Ellen Mark Patterson, Burnettown, SC, Emily C. Steven Arthur, Warrenville, SC and Daniel R. Cornetti, Augusta, GA. He is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren.
