Mrs. Comar, 85, of Aiken, died Saturday, March 9, 2013 at NHC, North Augusta.
A daughter of the late Smith Worley and Eugenia Drennan Worley, she was born in Loris, SC, grew up in Windsor, SC, attended Winthrop College and had lived in Mt. Pleasant before moving to Aiken in 1963.
She was retired from SC DHEC, but her family was her primary life's work and joy. In her retirement years she enjoyed gardening and quilting. She was a communicant of St. Mary Help of Christians Church, a long time volunteer at ACTS and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Knights of Columbus Council #3684. Gene loved to go crabbing with and to cook for her family. Always energetic and fun loving, she was always the first to say "Let's Go".
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, Smith Worley, Jr. and Jamie "Bubber" Worley.
She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Edward P. Comar, Aiken; four daughters, Barbara Brothers Mike Columbia, SC, Mary Harvey Jim Fralix, III Charleston, SC, Carol Dennis David Spartanburg, SC and Amy Turner Todd Aiken, SC and a son, Edward W. "Ned" Comar, Donna Pleasant Hill, CA .
