Funeral services for Mrs. Thelma Goins Brock will be held on Monday, February 5, 2007 at 11:30am at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 600 Main St. SW, New Ellenton, SC 29809 with Rev. Brian Gilmer officiating. Pallbearers will be Craig Holdman, R. P. Brock, Joseph Cannella, Daniel Cannella, Devin Brock and Eric Crosby. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 11am until the time of the service. Memorial donations may be directed to the St. Paul Family Life Center Building Fund or to Regency Hospice, 105 Summerwood Way, Aiken, SC 29803. George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave SW Aiken is assisting the family.
Mrs. Brock, 74, of New Ellenton, died Friday, February 2, 2007 at her residence. A daughter of the late David Jackson Goins, Sr. and Lona Esther Johnson Goins, she was born in Buffalo, SC and moved to New Ellenton in 1954.
Known as a giving person, she was renowned for her Porcelain dolls and tea sets and for her baking, especially her fruitcakes. She was a long-time member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and was a former Administrative Board member and a former nursery worker. Mrs. Brock was also an honorary member of the New Ellenton Fire Department.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brock was pre-deceased by several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her husband, Wallace T. Brock, Sr., New Ellenton; her son, Wallace Thomas Theresa Brock, Jr., New Ellenton; three daughters, Lona Mae Brad Thompson, Augusta, GA, Teresa Eve Bill Parchen, Aiken, SC and Jimsie Rick Crosby, Aiken; a brother, Howard Goins, Buffalo, SC; two sisters, Betty Jean Revis, Buffalo, SC and Peggy Ann Goins, Buffalo, SC. She is also survived by a special brother in law, Edwin "Buddy" Brock, New Ellenton., twenty grandchildren, thirty three great grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and many, many friends.
