A Funeral Mass for Mr. George John Lorris was celebrated by Fr. Jeffrey Kirby on Friday, August 8, 2008 at 11am at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Aiken. Interment will take place at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery on Friday, January 16, 2009 at 1:00pm. Visitation will be at George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave. SW on Thursday evening from 6-8pm. Memorial donations may be directed to Liberty Hospice, 610 Aldrich St. NE, Aiken, SC 29801. Mr. Lorris, 79, of Aiken, died Monday, August 4, 2008 at his residence. A son of the late Mark and Anna Wolf Lorris, he was born in Butler, PA and had lived most of his life in Coraopolis, PA. Prior to moving to Aiken in March of 2000, he head lived in Florence, SC for nine years. He served in the United States Army from 1947-1948 He worked his entire career as a civil engineer for Pittsburgh- Des Moines Steel Co., Neville Island, PA, retiring in 1987. George was a long time member of the Coraopolis School Board and Sanitary Authority. He was a communicant of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Aiken and was a member of the "50+ Men's Club" of Hounds Lake Country Club. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother and a sister. George is survived by his wife, Barbara J. Stelbotsky Lorris, Aiken and four daughters, Susan Spaniol, Coraopolis, PA, Joyce John Ploy, Cincinnati, OH, Ellen Robert Klixbull, Tega Cay, SC and Ann Leo Borres, Rock Hill, SC. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and twin, great, grandchildren.
