A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Jean Almeter Ebenhack will be celebrated Wednesday, March 9th 2005 at 11:00am at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be this evening, from 6-8pm at George Funeral Homes Historic Downtown Chapel 211 Park Ave. SW Aiken,
Mrs. Ebenhack, 83, of Aiken, died Saturday, March 5, 2005 at her residence. Born in Kenmore, NY, she was the daughter of the late Carl & Hazel Adams Almeter.
She spent most of her life as a devoted wife and mother, but did work for the Army Corps of Engineers as the secretary to Commanding General Mathias on the ?Manhattan Project?. She was a volunteer Docent for the Aiken County Historical Museum and used to volunteer at Aiken Elementary School, helping children learn to read. Jean was a communicant of St. Mary Help of Christian?s Church and had been responsible for caring for the Altar Cloths for over 37 years. She was also a member of the Wildwood Garden Club and the Academy of Lifelong Learning at USC-Aiken.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Don G. Ebenhack, Aiken, two sons; David Rebecca Ebenhack, Raleigh, NC and Peter Julie Ebenhack, Westminster, SC, a daughter; Ellen Robert Miller, Aiken, a sister; Eleanor Almy, Denver, CO and seven grandchildren; Eben, Zeke, Travis, Meredith, Sarah, Johnathon and Vivian.
