A Funeral Mass for Mrs. Audrey Marie Polson will be celebrated on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at 11am at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Hunter Johnson, David Hewitt, Waylon Brown, Larry Hicks, Mike Abney, and Angie Hart. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Dedmon, Ty Tyler, Danny Hart, David Williamson, and Mike Lake. The family will receive friends tonight from 6-8pm at George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave, SW, Aiken with a wake service at 6pm. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society, 115 Greenville Street, SW, Aiken, SC, 29801 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN, 38105.
Mrs. Polson, 78, of Aiken, died March 1, 2010 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
Born in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of the late Charles Andrew and Dorothy Marguerite Gaffany Dallaire. She spent the majority of her younger years in Florence, SC, where she met her husband, William Polson, Jr., and they later moved to Myrtle Beach and then settled in Aiken, SC. She worked at the Aiken Nursing Home from the mid 60's to the late 70's. She was a parishioner of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and especially enjoyed the Christmas season.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband. She is survived by her sons, Pat Polson, Chuck Polson, both of Aiken; daughters, Candy Daniel Hart, Aiken; Joyce Bill Dedmon, Ridge Spring, SC; sister, Jeanne Turner, Florence, SC; brothers, Jim Gwen Dallaire, Sumter, SC; Pierre Hazel Dallaire Irmo, SC; Charles Dallaire, Myrtle Beach, SC; and a grandson she helped raise, Shawn Sara Polson, Newark, DE. She is also survived by seven more grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
