Funeral services for Mrs. Doris Jean Evans will be held on Monday, March 15, 2010 at 11am at George Funeral Home & Cremation Center Chapel, 211 Park Ave, SW Aiken with Rev. Brian Adkinson officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Dustin Bowles, Jon Kindt, Bret Snouffer, Jonathan Kindt, Fred Patterson and Chris Simmiobs. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 14, 2010 from 5-7pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to Susan G. Mrs. Evans, 76, of Aiken, died Friday, March 12, 2010 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
Born in Equality, AL, she was the daughter of the late Gaines Dennis Haynes and Lydia Inez Phillips Haynes. She moved to Aiken in 1951 from Alabama. She was a member of Couchton Baptist Church. Jean retired after twenty five years as a seamstress from Aiken Industries. She loved to sew, crochet, play card games, work puzzles, collect dolls, and traveling. Her most cherished moments were to spend time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Odell Evans, brothers, Robert Haynes, Kenneth Haynes, and sister, Elaine Liles. She is survived by her daughter Sonya Jean Kindt, Doris Patterson, both of Aiken; son, James Evans, Bonita, OR; sisters, Marie Nance, Barbara Sue Hamilton, both of AL; Shirley Soma, OH; brothers, Byron Haynes, Jimmy Haynes, both of AL; grandchildren, Dustin Bowles, Ashley Kindt, Susan Grinels, Fred Patterson, Jonathan Kindt, Heath Kindt, and great granddaughter, Angel Davenport.
