The Funeral Liturgy for Mr. Walter Francis Powers will be held Saturday, September 17, 2005 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Aiken, SC. Interment will follow in name of cemetery Mr. Powers, 68, of Aiken, SC, died Thursday, morning, September 8, 2005 at his home. Born in Somerville, MA a son of the late John Joseph and Margaret Cullen Powers, he retired from Courier-Westford after thirty-nine years of service as a printer. He had lived in Dracut, MA, where he was a communicant of St. Anne?s Catholic Church prior to coming to Aiken, SC, in 2003. He was active in the American Legion Post #919, Dracut, MA. A United States Army Veteran, he proudly served his country during the Korean War. He is survived by a brother, John Joseph Powers, Jr., Sarasota, FL; sisters, Estelle Billings, Bradenton, FL, Lorraine Spencer and Eunice Powers, both of Seattle, WA and Elizabeth Hunt, Weymouth, MA; and many nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box K, Aiken, sc 29802.
