Edward Brainard Holley, Jr. 90, passed away in The Woodlands, Texas, on March 2, 2010.
Edward was born in Aiken, SC, to Lillian Odom Holley and Edward B. Holley, Sr. He was the eldest of three siblings. After graduating from Clemson University, he joined the military where he served in the Navy for 27 years and attained the rank of Captain. He served as a pilot in World War II, the Korean War, and Viet Nam. He was the recipient of the distinguished Navy Cross for bravery during WWII. Additionally, he was awarded a Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with 2 Gold Stars, Presidential Unit Citation Bronze Star, NAtional Defense Medal and various campaign ribbons. He went on to become the leader of the Navy's Blue Angels flight demonstration team in 1957-58. After he retired from the Navy, Edward moved to northern California where he lived until the last two months of this life.
Edward is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Kenneth and Jill Rauchle; son and daughter-in-law Ted and Nicole Holley: grandchildren Christopher, Alyssa, Nicholas and Trevor; brother, James R Holley.
A graveside service for Edward will be held on April 14th at 11:00 am at Millbrook Baptist Church Cemetery in Aiken, SC.
