At times, when you least expect, a name will pop into your head. Many years have past, but the name Ed Holley is very clear in my memory of throes years as a young sailor.
Some of the most memorable times in my Navy career were serving under Edward B. Holley, Jr., Commander, Fighter Squadron VF142, at Miramar CA.
He will be missed, not only by family, friends and colleagues , but also by the Nation for which he served.

To Ted & Jill and the entire Holley family, my sincerest condolences on the passing of Ed Holley. My prayers have been with him and all of you.
As a young boy growing up with Ted and a gang of cohorts in Saratoga, California , I was always awed by Ed as a man that did so much in his life in service of his country. Seeing all the pictures and hearing all of the stories over the years from Ed never ceased to instill a profound respect and admiration for a man who represented and tipified the greatest generation in the United States.
Over the years growing up, that respect and admiration has only grown for Ed all that he had sacrificed and accomplished in his life. He was a great father to his family, a great man for others to aspire to by example and a great hero for the United States of America.
Ed will be missed, but the memory of all that he has done will always live on to inspire my life and the lives of others through the stories of him and all that he stood for and accomplished. A true American hero to behold and be inspired by.

My father, Allan, roomed with Ed during their time at Clemson, as wellas grew up together here in Aiken, SC. Both became fighter pilots in WWII. We later visited Captain Holley when he commanded Glynco NAS, GA. I heard much about Ed when he commanded the Blue Angels. What a great man and a true great American. Our sincere condolances to the Holley family.

In 1957 I was assign to a neighboring squadron who shared the same hangar with the Blue Angels in Pensdacola. Captain Holley was the Squadron Commander at the time and through circumstances at the time, I was fortunate to get to know then Commander Holley and many of the rest of the Team. In all my military experience, I never met a finer Officer and gentleman as Captain Holley was. He has always been an inspiration to me and I will never forget him. May he rest in peace. And as sailors are fond of saying,"Fair winds and following seas".

To the Holley Family,
I am saddened to learn of Captain Ed Holley's passing. He was a truly great American who served valiantly in World War II, Korea and Viet Nam. We owe so much to him and his generation! He had a positive impact on my early life while he was the Blue Angels' leader.
Counted among my greatest memories are the New Orleans 1957 and 1958 Blue Angel air shows. Captain Holley's Angels solidified my goal to become a Naval Aviatior and Blue Angel. While those goals were not to be fulfilled, I am proud that the Blue Angels, typified by Captain Holley, have been an important part of my life.
All of us who knew Captain Holley, through his achievements, salute this outstanding Naval officer, aviator, and American hero.
I am reminded of the closing line in James Michener's Korean War epic, "The Bridges at Toko-Ri" --
"Where do we get such men?!"
May God Bless You and Your Family.

My father Bartow Houser Boylston was a first cousin. He had such fond memories of his Holley cousins and growing up together in old Aiken. Never short on stories, he always bragged about his cousin Ed's achievement as a Blue Angel. On behalf of my mother Novelle, my sister Veva and in my Dad's memory, we extend our sincerest condolences.

To the Holley family,
We just wanted to express our sincere sympathy for your loss. My father, Harold Holley, was Edward's first cousin, and we heard many stories over the years of how Dad admired and looked up to his cousin Edward. Edward accomplished much in his life in service to our country - he truly belonged to the greatest generation and we are grateful for dedicated men like him. I had the pleasure of meeting him a number of years ago during one of his visits to Aiken. He was such a kind, interesting yet humble man. I could see why my dad always had such great respect for him. We will be thinking of you and remembering you in our thoughts and prayers.
