I would like to share my condolences with the entire family of my Uncle George. He was a fine man with a zest for life.I wish I could have attended his funeral, however my work schedule did not allow me.I did get to see him when he traveled to Ohio a time back. Best wishes to Jim, Barbara,Billy, and the rest of the family. I hope to have the opportunity to see you all in the future. It has been a long time! Once again, accept my deepest condolences and best wishes in the future.
Love,
Jim SchmittgenBetty's son

Dear Bill & Gail,
Know that I am thinking of you and having fond and chuckle filled memories of George. He was a lucky man in many ways, but even more so for having the two of you to have been there for him in so many ways.
Love,
Chuck

Re: George J. Hoffman, Jr.
As things would be, George and I were in touch for years and years. We would always correspond at Christmas time and in about the last ten years or more, George would always call during the holidays and we would catch up for about a 1/2 hour. I looked forward to the call. This last year George called around Thanksgiving. He was looking forward to the kids joining him and wasn't feeling 100%. We had our catch up chat and George was his usual positive self. We go way back.
As a young boy I delivered newspapers to the "white" house and often got scolded when the weather was bad and I had to deliver the paper at noon. As the years went along I was in the Air Force and lived in Hawaii. On returning for a short stay in Claremont I went to work at JOY. Who was my boss>>>George. I was a welder. I was a Union Rep. and George and I often had some serious discussions. After my two children were out of diapers we all returned to Hawaii. George and I never lost contact. I'm 70 now and live in the Las Vegas area.
I never could figure out why for almost 50 years George and I found things to talk about yearly. I long ago gave up trying to figure 'us' out and just enjoyed the long-range 'friendship' we had.
I'll miss our annual phone get together. Take care. Kenneth J. Hayes, 2-15-08, kjh89@earthlink.net.
