Evette Pierre also known as Evette Varos, 56, of Aiken, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 12, 2012. At her request, services and arrangements will be private and under the care of George Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Aiken. A daughter of the late Leelwaisye Maharajh, she was born in St. Joseph, Trinidad. Ms. Evette was a long time resident of Aiken. She spent many years as a nurse and was a volunteer with the Cumbee Center. Ms. Evette a fixture at the Variety Restaurant, where she was loved by all. Survivors include: daughter, Portia Pierre of Aiken and Jeanelle Pierre of Philadelphia; a son, Nigel Pierre of Ottawa, Canada; brothers, Johnny Sookoo of Trinidad and Marcus James of New York; four grandchildren, Kesley Moise of Philadelphia, Marlon Pierre of Ottawa, Khalil Baxter of Philadelphia and Jasmine Johnson of Aiken. Ms. Evette was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
