Thomas Whitfield Wilson passed away on Sunday August 10, 2003 having succumbed to cancer. He was 71. Tom was born on March 22, 1932 in Ellaville, GA to Addie Munro and Thomas Watson Wilson. He graduated from Georgia Tech with a degree in chemical engineering and spent several years as an officer in the Army Chemical Corps. He then returned to Georgia Tech and earned a graduate degree in chemical engineering. Tom?s professional career began with DuPont in 1962 at Eastern Labs in New Jersey and spanned 34 years before his retirement in 1996 from Savannah River Site as Manager of Hazardous Materials Transportation. He was a past commander of the Savannah River Power Squadron and since 1986 enjoyed the travel and activities of a Judge Referee for the US Rowing Association. He served in that capacity during the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. He dearly loved fishing, sailing and cooking. He is survived by two sons, Thomas A. Wilson and William B. Wilson, both of Atlanta, GA, a daughter; Nancy E. Wilson, Greenwich, CT, two daughters- in- law, Deborah Ridley Wilson and Josefina Tlaczani Wilson, four granddaughters; Lauren, Alexis, Joanna and Samantha Wilson, one grandson; Mishka Aminov, and the mother of his children, Alice Stahlke, Aiken, SC. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sara ?Sally? Wilson Darabaris. Also, his only sister, Susanne Wilson Tatum, who died just two weeks ago. A memorial Service will be held on Saturday August 16th at 11:00am at South Aiken Presbyterian Church with Rev. John L. Frye, Jr. officiating.
