Col & Mrs Newman knew my mother from the US Base in the UK. They kept in touch until my mother passed away. (Mrs Maureen McKimmie 30.12.1943-15.01.01). My father and I kept in touch until he passed away. (Mr Ronald McKimmie 12.03.33-25.12.04). Sadly somebody disposed of their telephone book and I lost contact. My special memories were when they visited around Oct 1985 or Feb 1986. They stayed at the Grosvenor House Hotel, I was 12 yrs old, and I finally got to meet them in person after years of speaking over the phone. They were such a wonderful couple and made me feel so welcome. Following adverse weather conditions we were concerned that we could not contact them. It seems a racoon had chewed their telephone line and one day an aligator got under their home and was banging his tail beneath their floor. As a child I was afraid for them. They always called me Amanda and never Mandy which was more respectful than my family. I do hope they are both resting with other angels in the heavenly garden of eternal peace and tranquility reminiscing with Mum of happy times. My live to their nieces and other loved ones.
