Obituary of Samuel Jackson Roberts, III
Samuel Jackson Roberts, III, loving husband of Tammy Hamilton Roberts, passed away the morning of October 3, 2024, at their home.
Sam or Sammy as he was known by, was born in Aiken SC on December 22, 1954. He was the son of the late Samuel Jackson Roberts, Jr. and Audrey Moseley Roberts. He attended Aiken County public schools and graduated from USC Aiken with a bachelor's degree in accounting. He was an avid Gamecock fan and enjoyed watching and going to the Gamecocks basketball and football games.
Sam was a very loyal person. He loved his family more than life itself. Shelia Ann, his first wife, was tragically killed. She was his first love. He was devoted to her even after her untimely death. In 2020, he married Tammy and started a new chapter in his life. He loved bird houses and bird feeders because of the many types of birds they attracted and would sit on his porch for hours and watch them. He was also an avid walker, oftentimes walking miles at the time with his specific type of gait.
Sam was employed by Nutrien for 37 years and even after his retirement could not sit still. He went to work for Napa Auto Parts and enjoyed meeting and talking to people. He was of the Baptist faith, meaning he was a Christian, and often spoke of how he talked to Jesus and trusted Jesus in his life. He grew up in Marion St. Baptist Church and frequently attended True North Church in North Augusta. Using the accounting skills, he learned in college; he oftentimes would help the young people within the True North Congregation tutoring them in math.
In addition to his wife Tammy, Sam is survived by 1 son, Kyle Roberts of Aiken; former daughter-in-law, Angela Roberts; 2 sisters, Rose (Greg) Daugherty of Aiken & Pam Anderson of Aiken; 2 stepdaughters, Adeleigh Pressley of North Augusta & McKenna Hamilton of North Augusta, 1 stepson, Caleb Hamilton of North Augusta; and 2 grandchildren, Jackson Roberts, Margaret Roberts, whom he truly loved and adored.
