We just found out today that Mary had passed away. I had taught with Mary at Overlook School in New York/ We were great friends with Mary and Don. My husband Bob and I spent many fun times together. I was in her wedding and as we raised our families we chatted a lot even when they moved away. We spoke to Mary a lot after Don passed away. We have health issues and somehow missed the Facebook announcement that Mary had passed away. She and I corresponded a ;lot over the years. Our sympathy and prayers to the family. Bob and Mary Ellen Wynne So sorry we are so late in finding this out

I just now read of Mary’s passing in the WAJ Newsletter- I was a neighbor and friend here in North Settlement- Mary - Jim & Charlie I looked up to growing up as a neighbor- I used to keep in touch with the Maben clan through Charlie- once he passed, I lost touch. I remember going to Mary’s & Don’s wedding- I am very sorry she is gone- She brought Jill with her Mom Helen to visit. When Jill was very small. My deepest sympathy- Dawn Bailey Thorp

I knew Mary from our times exercising in the Village Fitness Center pool. She was a beautiful lady who cherished her family. My days were always brightened by her presence in them. My heart goes out to all of her family and friends who loved her.

I have so many wonderful memories of Aunt Mary, many from the Catskills.
- I was the flower girl for Aunt Mary and Uncle Don's wedding. It was such a thrill and Aunt Mary was the most beautiful bride! That whole day was filled with magic, especially through the eyes of a 9 year old. To this day we still talk about Grandma Maben's fancy pink marshmallow hat.
- Aunt Mary had just gotten a new car, it may have been her first after college? It was red and it was a convertible! I was a pre-teen and happened to be visiting grandma and gramps. She offered to take me for a ride in it and I was BEYOND thrilled to have a ride in a convertible. A few miles up the road, I did something (can't remember what, maybe something with the doorhandle?) and when Aunt Mary reached over to fix it, we drove right into a big ditch. She was crying, I was crying... we were fine, but her brand new car was not.
- When my dad turned 80 we had a party at our cabin in the Catskills. Although it was not easy for her, Aunt Mary made the trip up to celebrate. This meant so much to my dad and it was the last time that dad, Aunt Mary and Uncle Charlie would be together. I think she knew it would be her last time going "home" to the Catskills. We rented a big house and had a wonderful time. I loved listening to her reminiscing about the old days in Windham. There may have been some wine consumed, and by the end of the first evening we were quite surprised to learn firsthand what an expert "Cards Against Humanity" player she was. WHAT? Our prim and proper Aunt Mary beat us all soundly!
Wonderful memories of a wonderful human being.
love you and miss you Aunt Mary

Dear Dave, Jill and family. We love you and are praying for the Lord’s peace and presence during this difficult time. We loved your precious, gracious, loving, compassionate and beautiful mother. Her loving kindness will live on through you and future generations. I will always remember visiting her when we all lived in Illinois and she would invite me to spend time with her because I love art and drawing and painting as much as she did. To spend time in her presence blessed me more than you’ll ever know. She is a rare and beautiful treasure…Our parents were the best of friends. We love you and are here for you if you need anything. In love and sympathy. Judy Brobst Childs, Larry Brobst and Marti Brobst. John 11:25-26

Mary lived in my neighborhood. She would walk around the block now and then and always have a smile and something sweet to say. She loved her family. In talking with the neighbors that have lived here for awhile, she was loved. Your family has been through a lot and I’ll be praying for all of you. My sympathies. RIP, Mary.
