Stewart Michael Bestwick, SFC US Army (Ret.), 75, beloved husband of Marjorie Gayle Bradford Bestwick passed away Monday evening, October 30, 2023, at his residence following an extended illness.
SFC Bestwick was born on April 28, 1948, in Oak Park, IL a son of the late Lester & Lorraine Machnik Bestwick. SFC Bestwick was retired from the United State Army having been a Green Beret and serving his country during the Vietnam Conflict. During his service, SFC Bestwick was awarded the Purple Heart (2nd Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Bronze Star Medal (1st Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Commendation Medal (5th Oak Leaf Cluster), Combat Infantry Badge, and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. SFC Bestwick was also a former member of the Veteran’s Motorcycle Club, a former member and the past President of the Charleston Chapter of Hell’s Angels. SFC Bestwick was a former member of the Scottish Society, a Mason, a Knights Templar and member of the ALT Heidelberg Lodge 821 in Heidelberg, Germany and a member of the Clan Sinclair Association, Inc.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 2 daughters, Leslie Michaud of MA and Tanya Goret of NM; a son, Stewart M. Bestwick Jr. of Fayetteville, NC, 2 grandchildren, Tristan Bestwick and Jordan Bestwick; 2 sisters, Peggy Glenn & Kileen Koutromanos; 1 brother, David Orrico.
Memorial services with Military Honors will be conducted on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at 2:00pm in the George Funeral Home Historic Downtown Chapel, 211 Park Ave SW, Aiken, SC 29801 (803) 649-6234 with the Rev. K. Scott Ayers officiating.
