Here is Mr Bestwick 1st Grandson Sean Bestwick that isn't mentioned in Obituary. Sadly Seans Father Stew Jr refused to let Sean know his family. Sean looks so much like his Grandfather and it's shameful that Stew Jr has abandoned Sean from day one. My son graduated with high honors and would loved to known his Grandfather Mr Bestwick who I'm certain would been very proud of Honor Student Sean Anthony Bestwick. I'm reaching out to Sean's biological family to allow Sean to know each and everyone. SHAME on Stew not mention Sean to everyone especially in Obituary of his Grandfather. My condolences to everyone and Sean lives in Charleston WV. Please don't deny him his Great Uncle,Aunts Cousins etc. 304-415-7290 .

My name is Mark R Thompson I served with the Sgt at Ford Dix. I forgot to add my son's name. He was in one of the first wave to go into the hell province, to secure that airfield so the big planes could get in. He lost a Sgm after he left to a suicide bomber. His name Is LCpl Kyle E Thompson USMC. God bless the ones that will leave us now to the sound of a thousand guns. I have ordered and awaiting my first copy, I had to get his permission to have his name printed. Bill the second one to me. You have my information.

Dearest Dad, this is not something I ever expected to be doing. We had our differences thru our journeys in life but I'm blessed and so grateful that we were able to reconcile our differences to become father and son again and finally. I wish we could have more time to make memories as a family. All I can say right now is that I wish you were here...,

At the end of 1973, I met Stew at Camp Darby, Italy. We got along great and we also found out that we traveled through some of the same swamps in Vietnam. During our time there, we were both labeled as Mavericks.....a label that was well earned! The next time we served together was at USAEUR Headquarters in Heidelberg.....and again we earned the label Mavericks! However, we were also praised as being good soldiers. The last time I saw Stew in person, was 1984 at Ft McClellan when I was a DrillSgt and Stew was back in SOG. We exchanged phone calls and Christmas cards after that. I considered Stew a good friend....a little crazy, but who am I to say anything....being we were both Mavericks! SFC C. W. “Pete” Peterson. aka Dr. Pete....a name Stew gave me and I’m proud of it!

Stew was a great and generous friend. Just before his illness he visited me and donated his entire Sinclair outfit, which I will wear to his memorial service. He had worn it to my son's memorial in May, We were able to see him shortly before his passing and he recognized both my wife and I. We will miss him, but will always remember what a great man he was.

It was an honor and privilege to have known Stew Bestwick. He was an American hero and his commitment to our country was greatly appreciated. The last time I saw Stew he gave me one of the group of ribbons he wore on his uniform. I was. so surprised to receive this from him and will treasure this gift always. Rest in peace my friend.

I remember growing up and when (Mickey -then) came home on leaves from VN he would teach me to fight and proper landing with a chute (off of garbage can, I was 6-10 years old then. I never left his side when he was home. He even took me on his dates! never left his side. Then there was a family split. Even so he remained my idol throughout all those years anyway!
I think it’s all good and we will see again soon brother.

A wonderful husband is a gift from God, and you truly were, Stew. You were my protector, my confidante, my best friend and so much more. I was so blessed, and we were so happy. As I posted photos to your memoirs, I noticed so many smiles and it dawned on me just how happy we were. And we looked at each other with such adoration. I'll cherish those memories. The last words you ever said to me were "I love you." How many are that fortunate? I am honored that you chose me to be your forever wife, friend and companion all these years. You taught me about self respect and self love, and for that I will always be grateful.
Know that you were and always will be loved. It truly was an honor.
