Obituary of Ret. CDR. Michael Dale May Sr
Retired Naval Commander Michael Dale May, 75, a resident of Aiken, SC passed away peacefully at his residence on Tuesday Morning, May 9, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.
Born on January 9, 1948 in Luverne, Alabama, he was the son of the late Willie Coston & Edna Ruth Raybon May. Ret. Com. May proudly served his country in the United States Navy retiring after close to 21 years of service. After retirement he was an Associate Professor with the University of South Carolina Aiken Campus. He was a beloved father, grandfather, brother and professor.
He is survived by three sons, Stewart May of Annapolis, MD, Michael (Laura) May of Richmond Hill, GA, and Alexander May of Charleston, SC; 2 sisters, Sandra (Steve) Keadle of Thomaston, GA & Mary (Cole) Daniels of Richmond, VA; 4 grandchildren, Sean, Shanley, Emma & Annie May
A Celebration of Life in honor of CMD. May will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023 from 2:00p.m. until 6:00p.m. at the VFW, 116 Midway Circle, Aiken, SC 29803.

A full military funeral service with naval military honors befitting an officer will be begin on Monday, September 25, 2023 at 1:00p.m. in the Fort Myer Old Post Chapel of Arlington National Cemetery. 204 Lee Ave, Arlington, VA 22211. For those planning on begin in attendance your presence at the chapel is requested no later than 12:15p.m. Interment will take place immediately following with full officer detail in Arlington National Cemetery.
