Obituary of Howard J Neleigh
AIKEN, SC: Howard J. Neleigh, resident of Aiken South Carolina,95, died February 25, 2023.
Born June 30, 1927 in McKeesport, PA, he was the son of the late Howard Francis Neleigh and Sarah Margaret Stocker Neleigh.
Howard was raised in McKeesport PA and graduated from The Kiski School. His love of flying airplanes led him to joining the Marine Air Corp. right out of High School. He was very proud of being a Marine. In 1948 after WWII ended, he used his GI bill to attended Waynesburg University where he received a degree in Sales and Marketing. He worked for the Cyclopes steel company in sales for most of his career where he lived in Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Cincinnati and Washington D.C. Howard was active in the Masons and later became a Shriner and just recently was so proud to receive his 70-year member certificate.
In retirement his love for golf led him to South Carolina. He enjoyed volunteering to work at many LPGA /PGA functions to support the golfing community. His best moments were spent playing golf with his many friends and partners at Woodside Country Club. He looked forward to Sunday Services at St. Johns United Methodist where he could spend time with is his church family and God. Howard Loved living in Aiken and would want to thank his community for being so supportive to him during his time of need.
Howard was proceeded in death by his parents, Howard Frances Neleigh and Sarah Margaret Neleigh of McKeesport, PA; spouses Dora Newberry, and Joyce Neleigh.
He is survived by first wife, Shirley Neleigh; his children, Karen Sue Merritt and Lynn (Rick) Chow as well as Kay Kigar; grandchildren Dustin(Lauren), Courtney(Kevin), Spencer (Halie) Chow, Kyle Kigar, Annette Hatfield and Constance; Great grandchildren, Cyanne, Remy and Mila.
Services will be held at 1:00PM at St Johns United Methodist Church in Aiken South Carolina on March 25th 2023. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 12:00PM. Burial, with Military Honors, to follow at 3:30PM at Southlawn Cemetery.
