I'm so sorry to hear this, I worked for Dan from 2008 - 2013 during the weekends to keep up his beautiful estate on Wire Rd. Dan was always a great friend to me as I started as a teenager and ended in my early twenties. I lost touch with Dan in 2015 when I moved away from Aiken. It was an absolute honor and privilege to get to know him. Rest easy my friend.

I was so sorry to hear that Dan had passed. He loved Summer so much and always dressed her up for Mingle at Cumberland Village. I always wanted to see what outfit Summer was wearing. We miss seeing Dan and Summer at our Mingle on Wednesday.

I had an opportunity to meet Dan at a polo match. Our cars were parked side by side. We stayed in contact over the couple of years. I was on the board of the SPCA and heard he had adopted Summer. We have an event called Yappy Hour which he and Summer were both very active. We supported him during his medical problems during the past couple years. He loved Summer so much and was always showing us the gifts he bought her. (lucky girl!). He final decided to move to Cumberland Village, and was always telling me the biggest mistake he made was not to do it sooner! He loved the people, the organization, and became the Ambassador of the Cumberland. We will miss his positive attitude on life. I am sure he is taking charge of his new environment. We are so luck to had him in our life. Russ & Jennifer Richardson

Q: How did you meet Shearin?
A: Dan and I first met when he moved to Cape Coral. He had just purchased his first horse a beautiful Arabian named Gazer. Dan was boarding Gazer at the same barn I had my horse at. My horse was a bit crazy and Dan knew I was to say the least uncomfortable with her. He would sit in the barn and talk with me for hours instead of riding . Dan later moved to an area of Fort Myers called Buckingham where I also was living just down the road. We both now had multiple horses at this time. Dan became very popular in the area at the different barns and was later referred to as the Mayor of Buckingham. A title he carried very well. Everyone just loved him. Florida weather got to be a bit much for my friend, the hurricanes with owning horses is very stressful and he chose to move to Aiken SC. His new farm was more beautiful then his Florida farm and I am so glad I was able to visit over the years. I was priviledge to have continued our friendship long distance with weekly or bi-weekly phone conversations catching up on the events of each others lives and to hear all about his new life in Aiken.
Dan was the true meaning of a best friend. I am going to miss my friend so very much.
Dan rest easy , I love you and I know you are happily riding those horses in Heaven.
