I was fortunate to meet Roger shortly after moving to Woodside in 2013. The seeds of our friendship were planted that spring during a Pinehurst golf trip. We were paired together and during a slow round we found ourselves singing Motown music together, laughing, searching for the right lyrics, and enjoying being together.
Our friendship grew over the years and I learned that Roger was artistic, loved music, perused fitness, was smart, a pretty good golfer, and was kind and generous. And he loved to travel!
One of his favorite trips was the cross country excursion with Carol in his two seater Porsche convertible. They got all their gear, luggage and golf clubs into that little car and enjoyed the sights of our country and some beautiful golf.
Carol and I were fortunate to enjoy travel with Roger and Carol on couples golf trips, to Quechee, Vermont where they enjoyed hot air ballooning, and most recently Italy. We visited Venice, Tuscany, and Umbria for 17 days of tourism filled with fun, laughter, an opera, learning Euker, and plenty of fine Italian wine………..and then some dancing!
Roger left me with many great memories, and I look forward to the day that the sadness of his passing will be replaced by the pleasant memories of our friendship.
God bless you my friend. You and your family will remain in my prayers.
