Dear Eloise, May you find strength in family, friends and your faith In the Great Comforter our universal God. As a recent widower I can empathize with your distress and sorrow at the present time. May there be sunshine down the road after the shadows and hopefully happiness.
Please call if you need someone far away but close in spirit to talk to.

Dear Eloise and family,
As you know John has been a dear friend since the days we lived in Aiken and when Kerry and I took piano lessons from you. I shall miss him, and his annual letters with his thoughts and your adventures. I have thought of you both so often over the last 20 years. I recall when we visited you in Vermont and when you came to us in Mansfield. Here is the poem that John wrote for me, and which I have kept in my wallet since 1983. I will treasure it always. My prayers are for you at this sad time.
Many Cups of Tea
I offered her a cup of tea
and my friendship true.
A weekly visit we enjoyed
at our rendez-vous.
We talked and talked of many things,
this and that you see.
We shared the past and present too,
feeling sympathy.
Her joys and sorrows became mine,
vice versa too.
Behind a pretty face her soul
ever shining through.
Fate took her and her friendly smile
far away from me.
But only after we had had
many cups of tea.
John Twombly

Eloise,
It was a pleasure knowing John and sharing the Utopia with him. As you know, Utopia still sails, certainly in part because of the care he took of her. Sailing Utopia always will recall John, and you, to me.

My sincerest sympathies to all family members. I was fortunate to have known Mr. Twombly for a number of years, as a prior mail-lady, in the neighborhood. During those years, I knew him as a friend and fellow lover of poetry. I will always treasure the hand-written piece he transposed, for me, from it\'s original French... a beautiful and lovely piece, of his own creation. He was quite the gentleman and will be remembered as one of a very wise, cultured, and gentle nature. May the Creator surround you with Peace, during this time of loss.
