Peter was my godfather. I am Linda LaRue(Rant). I am sorry to hear about Peter. I spoke to Peter several years ago. Sorry we did not keep in touch. I have many good memories of him as a child. My mother is Phyllis, married to Walter-John. She is still alive and living on her own and is 98.

Dear Mary Beth,
Pete was an amazing man! We enjoyed visiting y'all as fellow transplants from Connecticut to South Carolina. It was NEVER a dull visit and we often completely forgot that Pete was recovering, or in the fight of his life. Together, you were an inspiration! The love between you, the bursts of humor, the selflessness, and hope mixed with reality... we have always been inspired and appreciative of who you are as individuals, and together as a couple. Pete will rest in peace, and we are all better for having known him.
Love,
Maraide & Jim Sullivan

Dad, you will forever be missed by us all. Your strength and courage has shown many how you had become our “Superman”. You will always be my Superman! You had always been my rock and now you’ve taught me another lesson, how to be a Boulder! You showed me anything is possible and you proved it over and over. I am very proud to be your Daughter. I prayed long and hard for Grandma and my husband Sean to take you home on your birthday. It came true, you have been giving back to grandma the day she gave you life. You will forever be in my heart. Two peas in a pod we were called because of our stubbornness, gentleness, kindness and how much I resembled you. Thank you for all the life lessons, our talks, our laughs and our cries. Thank you for being by my side when my husband passed and I will not leave Mary Beth’s side. I always saw the love between you two just by the way you looked at each other. It breaks my heart to not have you with us but we will see each other again. Goodbye to my Superman Father. Time to spread your wings and fly. It’s time for your peace, no more fighting. You are free Dad. Keep watching over us, protecting us, guiding us and loving us.
Love you very much Dad,
Love your Daughter,
Carrie Seaha Burke

Pete and Mary Beth were among the first couples I met when I moved to Aiken in 2006. Pete became a good and loyal friend, a sounding board and source of good advice, and always at the ready to help when I needed help. His will remained intact all the years of his struggle with brain cancer, and he displayed unmistakable courage and fortitude. To say he will be missed is understating the case. May he rest in peace.
