My condolences and prayers to the family. Rich was a mentor by phone for many years before we ever met each other. I can tell you he was one of the most respected Colonels in the USAF SP/SF career field! I went on to make Colonial because of mentors like Colonial Allen. RIP Dender and God bless your family! To the Allen family, I am saddened to hear about Richards passing. I met Richard through Evelyn when they moved to Tampa in the late 80s, we were both stationed at MacDill AFB. Evelyn is from my hometown back in eastern NC and it was great to reconnect with family. My wife and young son would often visit them and their two boys. I recall when Evelyn gave Richard a surprise birthday party with friends on a yacht.. we experienced a 2-3 hour ride on the beautiful gulf waters of Tampa Bay. What a great moment! Richard, you were a great family man and friend. You will be missed! My prayers to the Allen family ... cherish those wonderful memories with Richard.
Marcus J. Sharpless, Alexandria Virginia.

To the Allen Family. Our Deepest Condolences and Prayers to you all during this most difficult time.
Mr. ALLEN (Rich) as he was known to us at WSI, was in my opinion, our greatest Deputy General Manager. RICH was not only a great leader, he was a great friend that always had the time to share a hand shake or a treasure trove of great advice.
I note from the magnificent video, how much he loved his family his beautiful wife, majestic sons, daughter in law, and especially his granddaughter. I believe Rich loved everyone he met. He was just that kind of man. I will miss him but I know you all will miss him more than anyone. Rest in Peace Rich, thanks for all you did on this side. See you on the other side. Sincerely, Harvey G. Key

We were sadden to hear of the passing of Richard. As a home boy, Aggie and fellow Air Force Officer we did not always keep in touch but, when we saw each other it was always good to see a good friend. Our prayers are for Evelyn and the family as they move forward with the memories that they shared. May The God of all comfort, bring you strength during the days ahead. Love You!

I am deeply saddened by the lost of my great friend and fellow USAF officer. Rich and I served together many times over the years and our families shared birthday parties and many joyous occasions. Rich was the consummate law enforcement and security professional who's impact upon the US Air Force will be his legacy. We were on numerous trips and operations together and we affectionately referred to each other as "cuz". Always with a smile he was a mentor to many, many younger officers! Rich, I will miss you! Rest in Peace Defender!

I was saddened to hear the news of Mr. Allen’s passing. Reading this obituary tells the story of Mr. Allen’s many successes during his time on earth. What an amazing life he lived! I met him while working at SRRC. To me, He was a great man with an infectious smile, and genuine personality. I believe he was just one of those people who was good to the core. It was always a pleasure seeing he and Mrs. Mary Allen work together. They had a very admirable relationship, and I always enjoyed speaking with them. It seems he is gone too soon, but I know God’s timing is the right timing, even if we don’t quite understand. There is a bigger picture. My prayers and thoughts go out to all that knew and loved Mr. Allen. May God grant the peace, comfort and strength today and in the days to come.
