Obituary of Bert A. Pilz

AIKEN, SC – Bert A Pilz died March 28, 2021.

He was preceded in death by his father, William P. Biles; his stepfather, Rex A Pilz; and his mother, Eileen S Pilz.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen S Pilz; son Bert A Pilz Jr (B.J.), daughter, Candace Pilz (Mel McClain - deceased), Lexington SC; S.  Gary Seigler, whom he raised as a son, Aiken, SC; sister Eudene Rossi, Aiken SC; and four beautiful granddaughters, Brittany Pilz, Charlotte, NC, Lexi Lenarz, Aiken, SC, Payton and Jordan Pilz of North Augusta, SC; and a daughter-in-law Theresa Redd Pilz; three brothers-in-law, Herman and Lester Seigler and William Reynolds; four sisters-in-law, Rebecca (John) Workentine, Charlotte, NC, Sara Blackmon, Rose (Joe) Lockhart, and Susie Hallman Aiken, SC; numerous nephews and nieces; four very special friends, Teo Estrada and his family, Jimmy Green of Aiken SC and Ryan Sumner, (whom he loved like a son) Augusta GA; and Jessie Rumbly Aiken, SC.

Mr. Pilz dearly loved his family. He was a heavy equipment operator and his love was operating  any type of heavy equipment, especially his own backhoe.  He was like a kid with a new toy when he was on his backhoe.  He loved working on cars.

The family would like to give special thanks to his doctor's, Dr. Devish Patel and Dr Matthew Diamond of Nephrologist of Augusta, GA, the staff at ARA Dialysis Center, especially Freddi and the nurses at Traditions Hospice, especially Jan, our family and pastor Mike Catoe.

The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 3, 2021 at George Funeral Home with a memorial service following at 3:00 p.m. in The George Funeral Chapel with Pastor Mike Catoe officiating.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be directed to Kidney Research.

He will be missed by the lives he touched along his journey. Rest in Peace.
