Obituary of Tweetie Carolyn Hill
Tweetie Carolyn Lea Hill, 85, widow of the late Clyde E. Hill passed away peacefully Thursday morning, March 18, 2021 at the Pruitt Health Augusta Hills Nursing Facility following an extended illness.
Born on July 30, 1935 she was the daughter of the late Stubo and Mary Elizabeth Daniels Lea. She was a homemaker and was a faithful member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in New Ellenton, SC where she was a devoted member of the adult sanctuary choir as long as her health permitted.
Mrs. Hill had a deep love for her church, her church choir, gardening, cooking and especially her grandchildren whom she adored. As her children were growing up, all the other kids around the neighborhood would always want to come to her house for dinner because there would always be something delicious on the table. She never missed a single little league game that either of her sons played in. Later in life she loved her dogs, card games and adored a casino with slot machines. As the family shares, there was not a slot machine around that wasn’t afraid of Tweetie. Another precious memory of Tweetie as shared by her granddaughter was that when her grandmama came to visit them in Biloxi, she was there 5 minutes to visit and then off to the casino.
Mrs. Hill is survived by two sons and daughter-in-laws, Glen & Teresa Hill of Dublin, GA and Donald & Holly Hill of Evans, GA; 3 grandchildren and their spouses, Jeremy Hill (Heather) of North Augusta, SC, Jillian Hill (Weldon) & Kelsie Hill (Bryan) both of Biloxi, Mississippi; and three great grandchildren, Jaci, Weldon & Willow.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Hill was pre-deceased by two brothers, James Reece Lea and John David Lea, Sr.
Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at 3:00p.m. in the St. Paul United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Susan Pennock officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 600 Main Street, New Ellenton, SC 29809 or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 100 Stoneridge Drive, Suite 640, Columbia, SC 29210
