To say we werent fond of each other when we first met would be an understatement indeed. In that time I assumed much yet knew little. Through the years that followed a fondness developed that , on my part , grew into a profound respect for Auther ."pop pop" Pohle I have many memories of " pop pop...I came to count the man as one proud to be among a very limited , select few I knew as brutally honest confidant and friend. One of my fondest memories is the day that we turned barbaras horses to pasture. Art had worked side by side with me for weeks building fence in the hot humid Carolina mornings that turned to scorching afternoons as we worked to fence the pasture that he also was instrumental in bringing to fruition.with the excitement of two little boys we brought wotan and shiza as well as the goats that wouldnt leave their side up to the gate of our finally finished pasture , removed their halters and turned be them out. Having been stabled in a small lot around the barn with not much room to stretch a stride. They galloped like the wind right across the pasture through a weak stretch of fencing which the two of us fully intended to reinforce later. ( When we got a roundtoit) however neither of us felt the urgancy to make a special trip to the "roundtoit" store. It was a great afternoon for the horses and goats as they feasted on the neighbors newly planted landscaping shrubs . flower bushes , garden and strawberry patch! They were finally eating in the garden of Eaden and without halters they werent about to surrender untill they had their fill... Can still see the look on neighbors face... Damn place looked like Atlanta after Shermon's march through! But what a grande pasture we had indeed! I miss you pop pop pohle but ann needed you more so I count my time with you as a gift!
