I was a manager at the O’Charley’s in Aiken, where Mr. Henry & his wife would come for dinner all the time. He became like extended family, and I always looked forward to his visits. He even made a special trip up to the restaurant after his wife passed away, just to let us know. He was so kind and such a pleasure to sit and talk to. He was a very special man and one of my very favorite guests. He will be very missed.

I worked with Henry when he was the chamber of commerce, I was both so sad (heartbroken) n happy for him when he retired n relocated. We lost touch through the years but Henry was a wonderful gentle man n knowing he’s no longer here on earth, he will be greatly missed by so many. I will always remember n love home for his great kindness n mentor ship for helping in business. Henry, I will see you again in heaven where the angels rejoiced when you joined them.
My deepest condolences to his family.

Kevin and Keith, I remember your dad from my days (long ago) playing youth hockey in Park Ridge as well as high school hockey (for Notre Dame HS) against your very talented Maine South teams. Your dad was an enthusiastic supporter of the game of hockey, and someone who always brought a positive attitude to the arena. - Mark Meyer, East Lansing, Mich.

Mr Henry was a wonderful, thoughtful man who will be missed greatly by our family! From the minute we met, at Cumberland, was nothing but kind. Our girls absolutely loved him! I’m so thankful he was able to see baby Cady, he lit up when he held her! She just giggled and smiled back at him! It was such a sweet moment between them. I’m thankful our big girls got to see him a few weeks back. We were all looking forward to celebrating my nana birthday together. He will be greatly missed by our family!
You are all in our thoughts and prayer!

Henry will be missed by many. He was a wonderful neighbor and friend to us from the moment we built our home 3 doors down from him and Mary Ellen 16 years ago. Always smiling, waving, telling jokes. I will always remember how helpful he was in allowing us to borrow some Habitat furniture for one of our Heart Show weeks. He was so proud that he had just the perfect items we needed. But THE sweetest thing was when I fell and broke my femur 3 years ago. He came to the hospital to see me carrying a dozen of beautiful peach colored roses!! I was so touched by this kind man and his thoughtfulness. Greg and I will always treasure our memories of him and the times we had on this cul-de-sac. Sincere sympathy to all of his family. RIP Henry!❤️

Henry came into our lives at Cumberland Village when my Mom, Betty Hatcher moved there. They almost immediately became inseparable friends. Henry became part of our family through birthday parties, sharing meals in our homes, going on outings and by my two youngest granddaughters calling him Papa Henry. I loved him and appreciated him for the joy he brought to my Mom. He wore crazy socks, always had a joke and a smile to share, was brilliant and knew everyone in Aiken and never had a negative remark to make about anyone. He was an encourager and was so kind to everyone at Cumberland. He will be missed by all. We love you Henry. Bonnie and Wayne Fowler, Ken and Theresa Hatcher, Betty Hatcher, Nathan and Beth Hendrix, and their little girls...Natalie, Emily and Cady.

Thank you so much Bonnie. Henry loved your family and we so appreciate your kindness to him. His special friendship with Betty certainly helped during this time that it was difficult to get together. Our thoughts are with Betty, too, and hope that everyone can soon gather again.

Henry always had a friendly, complimentary greeting when I'd come to visit my Mom at Cumberland Village.
He always had a big smile and stories to tell and was keenly interested in and concerned for others.
Mom and I would have a chuckle whenever we'd walk past his apartment and saw his lifelike
black dog keeping watch!! We will miss him dearly and extend our sympathies to you.
Sincerely,
Babs DePalermo

Henry was one of the first people I met when Alicia and I moved to Aiken in 1999 (shortly after he moved here also). Over the years we served together in numerous organizations and shared many good times together. Henry had a servant mentality and contributed much to our community. Aiken has lost a tireless advocate. Prayers to Sue and her family.
