Known as "bright eyed and bushy tailed", Katie was always fun-loving, compassionate, outgoing, and the "peace keeper" of the family. Throughout her life, Katie was very active. She devoted her life to cheerleading, gymnastics, and of course dancing - Katie loved to dance. Katie was a 2006 graduate of Aiken High School as well as the Aiken County Career Center where she pursued cosmetology. Later, after attending Aiken Technical College for two years, she then proceeded onward with her new passion in life - the theater. She attended the College of Charleston in Charleston, SC where she was studying Fine Arts and working with children. Charleston became Katie's second home where she impacted many lives as well as back here in Aiken, SC. She had many friends and special co-workers at Oops! A retail store she worked at that Katie loved dearly. But none could surpass her first love, Alex Bush, her fiancé to be. Katie and Alex were together for six years during which they were inseparable. They loved each other with a passion no one could fathom. Although Katie left this life not knowing that Alex would soon propose to her; she left this life with her dearest and best friend by her side. Alex we love you and miss you terribly. Katie, you will always be remembered with that happy smile on your face that would brighten an entire room. Katie will be deeply missed but eternally loved by her family and friends. Rest in peace with the Lord and we will see you soon.
Katie is survived by her parents; Todd & Karen Swetman Scott, Aiken, her brother; Brandon Brianna Barenie, US Air Force Academy, CO, her sister; Aimee Daniel Simon, Aiken and twin sisters; Holly & Hope Scott, Aiken, paternal grandparents; Ted & Mildred Scott, Aiken and her maternal grandfather; Raymond Charlotte Swetman, North Augusta, SC.
