While I did not know Katie or Alex I know a shadow of the pain you are going through. My daughter, 11 at the time, lost her best friend in a freak accident. I still hurt for the loss of her in our lives, she was like one of my own, but not blood. Maybe Kaley and Katie are dancing in heaven today. I hope so. I pray Gods comfort around you during the upcoming trials you will face. God bless you.

To Katie's friends and family, I had the true pleasure of working with Katie last semester as her Professor and Academic Advisor. She was a delightful addition to my class and was quick to celebrate her classmates' successes while challenging their thinking when it was going astray. I'm deeply saddened by her tremendous loss and my thoughts and prayers are with you all. Her potential to be a powerfully vibrant force in the theatre and working with children was great and her absence is full of extreme grief. Professor Cristy Landis

I didn't know Katie or Alex, but was so terribly saddened to hear of the loss of your loved ones...so young and what a future they would have had on earth. We may not understand God's plan, especially when young lives are taken away, but we have to trust in the Lord and ask Him to hold us close during these difficult times. May God bless each and every one of Alex and Katie's family and friends.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Katie and Alex. To her parents, I know your hearts are hurting as you had to let your precious daughter go home to Jesus sooner than you envisioned. Having to give your child back to God is a pain like no other. I pray that through faith and trust in God you will find healing. Our precious daughter Casey was unexpectadly called home to be with Christ 5 years ago, due to injuries from an automobile accident in Sept. 05. She had just turned 15. The journey and grieving for your child is like no other. Be kind to yourselves, take time in your healing and grief, and let the Lord walk with you on this journey He will wipe away your tears, carry you when you need it, and hold you in His arms. May your cherished memories of Katie, her beautiful smile, and her love for life help in your healing and bring comfort. My thougths and prayers are with you on this journey. I cannot think of my darling, Alex, without thinking also of his beautiful, loving sweetheart, Katie. They were a package deal; I was looking forward to Katie's becoming an "official" part of my family sometime in the not too distant future. I always admired Katie for her strong faith and lack of fear. She was a truly beautiful soul. There are so many memories that I have. It seems like it's all that I can think about since finding out about the accident but one stands out above the rest. Katie and I were picking up Alex and James from the airport after their trp to Las Vegas. When Alex walked up Katie ran to him. She jumped into his arms and cried. She just kept telling him how much she missed him and loved him. At the time I didn't get it, but I do now. Katie loved Alex with her whole heart. They had a love that was unexplainable to anyone but them. She left this world with her best friend. She would have followed him anywhere.
Katie,
I miss you my beautiful friend. I look forward to the day when we're reunited again, dancing and singing in heaven. I will carry your smile, your love for life, and the memories we shared with me always. I love you.

I have only known Katie since September, but from the day we met, she always met me with a smile and a big hug, just like Alex did. On my last visit to Charleston, just 2 weeks ago, I finally had an opportunity to sit down with Katie and Alex and talk, and start to get to know each other. We talked about how they met, how long they've been together, and the future. When Alex was away from the table, I asked Katie if they planned to get married, and she said that while they've talked about it many times, they had planned to wait until Alex was finished with school. Hearing that Alex bought a ring for Katie is both heartwarming and heartbreaking.
Katie was sunshine. When she saw me, she made me run over and gave me a big hug! I loved this about her. I am devastated by their loss and feel great sadness not having her radiance here to light the way to her arms.
I miss her. She will live in me forever.
