I had the honor to serve under Col Reusche while assigned to the 3rd MAPS and HQ AMC/DOZ. He was a tough and demanding Commander and boss, but he was always fair and he really cared for his troops. He had a vision for the future of Air Force Transportation forces and worked diligently to implement it while at HQ AMC/DOZ and HQ USAF/A4T. My sympathies go out to Cathy and the rest of the Reusche family.

Was it 1985 or 1986? My new neighbors from Germany with their BMW and VW Westfalia. This was something new and interesting. Mr. Reusche (I knew him in no other way) was the king of corny dads and I loved it. Mr. Reusche was always in good spirits and ready to tease a couple of adolescent boys. Snodgrass and Mortimer were the nicknames that Andrew and myself came to expect. I think these nicknames continued to exist through high school albeit on a more subdued level. Mr. Reusche was a great man, a good friend, and phenomenal role model as a dad. He'll be missed.

Cathy, I never had the honor of meeting you, but I knew Michael/Mike/Mikey for many years. I first met Mike in Korea, 1990, when I was the 7th Air Force Chief of Transportation and Mike was accompanying then-USAF Director of Transportation, Gen Barnhill. Mike and I hit it off almost immediately and we would cross paths a number of times over the remainder of our Air Force careers and afterwards. I was always impressed with Mike's smarts and drive. He was always a good person for me to call, whether to get a second opinion, some advice or just looking for a good laugh. Unfortunately, I have been out of touch with Mike for the past several years and was unaware of his having any health issues. No doubt Mike will be sorely missed by the many he befriended during his life, and those who loved him so dearly. Our prayers for you and the family as you deal with this great loss.

I had the honor of serving on the AF Staff with Colonel Reusche from 1996-1999. Mike was a visionary thinker with an unmatched commitment to improving Air Force Transportation. He demanded much of his staff, but I can say with certainly his challenging nature brought out the best in his fellow Transporters.
Our heart goes out to Cathy, Andrew and the rest of the Reusche family as they mourn Mike's loss, May God's blessings be felt by all who mourn a loss that came way too soon.
With deepest sympathy, Herb and Alana Schlecht

I had the honor of serving with Col Reusche during several operations, he was a Master transporter, and a jokester at heart. He left 3rd MAPS a better squadron than he took command of. Once a Mapper, always a Mapper! We mourn with the family.
