Carl and I would often find ourselves working out at the Colleton River exercise room during the short period we both lived there. Being physicians of the same age we had many discussions wherein we worried about the delivery of health care to the increasing number of people who cannot afford services. Carl was obviously a compassionate and progressive physician and had much more to contribute. It is a sad loss to us all that he passed at such a young age. My prayers are with the family at this difficult time.
I remember Dr. Adkins from Beckley and thought of him occasionally over the years. He saw that the practice of medicine was changing and was one of the first to leave for an executive position in a managed care company.
I regret that he passed at such a young age and hope his last months were happy.

We were saddened to hear of Carl's passing. We appreciate all both of you did for our church and what an encouragement you and Carl were to our children. We will be praying for you at this difficult time.
I am very saddened to hear of the loss of Dr. Adkins. I can vaguely remember receiving stitches while in his care after a bump on the head when I was only four years old.
I was also a childhood friend of Jonathan and met Dr. and Mrs. Adkins both while in elementary school and attending cub scouting events.
Although the Adkins family moved away, and several years have passed, I will always remember them. They will be in my thoughts and prayers. May God's grace and mercy surround you.

Susan, You have my sympathy in the passing of Carl. I read his obituary in the Weirton paper. I always enjoyed talking to Carl when given the opportunity, he was a gentleman. So sorry. Doug Finton.
