Dear Granny and The Entire Akins Family:
I wanted you to know how truly sorry I am for this loss. I only wish that I had known Granddaddy for longer than I did; however, it was an honor to know him for the short time that I had. Granddaddy touched my life, as I know he did my husband Herbie's and everyone who was lucky enough to meet him. My wish is that we all would try to be more like him; he set a wonderful example for us all to try and follow. He would have been very proud to see how the family came together in this time of need. Please have comfort knowing he is with our Lord in Heaven. Let me know if there is anything else that I can do - my thoughts are with everyone. It is truly an honor to be a part of this wonderful family. May God bless you all.
Love,
Stacy Ferguson

Dear Akins Family,
I know that this is a time of grief for all of us. However, because of the great faith that Uncle Bernie had, we can rest in the assurance that he is smiling down from Heaven at all of us. He is no longer in pain or suffering. He is simply away from our earthly presence at this time. We know that he is waiting to see us again in that great reunion we'll all have some day. For now, we will shed our tears for not being able to see him or talk to him. Death can't take away the many memories that we have of him. So in many ways, it is also a celebration of his life. He has raised a strong, united family. He has taught all of you that you perserve through the rough times by your dependence on God. He watches over you now and is proud of your togetherness. May God Bless you during this difficult time.
Love, Floyd, Lynn, Sally Marie Futch

Uncle Bernie was a second father to me and to Lucky. He and my Dad were two of the finest people I have ever known and a wonderful example to everyone. He will be missed, but he will remain in our hearts forever. It is comforting to know that he is with Jesus, his parents. and brothers in Heaven where he will know only joy and never feel pain. Our heartfelt condolences to Aunt Mildred and the rest of the family. You are in our prayers during this difficult time. We love you all.
