Funeral services for Mrs. Alice Morey Greene will be private and under the direction of George Funeral Homes Historic Downtown Chapel 211 Park Ave. SW Aiken, SC 29801. Mrs. Greene, 86, of Aiken, SC, died Tuesday January 20, 2004 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. Memorial donations can be directed to the American Cancer Society 115 Greenville St. SW Aiken, SC 29801. A daughter of the late Reuben & Elizabeth Weiss Morey, she was born in Cable, WI and had lived in Whitewater, WI before moving to Aiken 30 years ago. Before retiring in 1972, she was a professor of physical education at the University of Wisconsin, Whitewater. She was a recognized, competitive contract bridge player and a superb golfer who played at the state level. She was well known for her great long game and was proud to have taught her grandchildren to play golf. She was also very involved in wildlife preservation and an accomplished pheasant hunter that always had other hunters wanting to go with her, as she was known to have the best hunting spots. Mrs. Greene was predeceased by a brother, Howard Morey and a sister, Bernice McConnell. She is survived by her husband; Jay ?Morry? Greene, Seaford, DE, a son; James Morrison Greene, Lincoln, DE, a step-daughter; Jennifer Greene, Prairie du Sac, WI and many other family members.
