AIKEN, SC- George Myron Morris II, age 83, passed away Thursday, October 29, 2015. George was born August 10, 1932 in Springfield, IL to the late Dr. Albert Ely Morris and Sadie Wiersma Morris. George served his country in US Navy as a flyer during the Korean War. He obtained his Bachelor's Degree from Dartmouth University and received his Master's Degree from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth. George worked on a variety of different projects on the development and consulting side of the mining and textile industry. His career took him around the world and he was very familiar with the Orient. George was an avid reader, NY Times Puzzle and Sudoku player, and enjoyed Bridge and Dixieland Jazz. He also enjoyed traveling and spending time in the mountains. George had many diverse interests and maintained friendships all over the world. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Tiete Haynes. George is survived by his beloved companion of 23 years, Beaty Stevens, of Aiken, SC; three daughters, Lyall Copley, New Ellenton, SC, Evelyn Morris, Aiken, SC, and Catherine Herman (Jim), Charleston, SC; a son, George Morris III, Panama City, Florida; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ed Morris (Anne). A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Augusta Wounded Warrior Project, 4115 Columbia Rd., Ste. 5-333, Martinez, GA 30907-0410.
