A Burial Service with a Requiem Mass for Mrs. Janet Tyrrell McMillan will be celebrated on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at 11am at All Saints Anglican Church with Rev. George F. Alexander as Celebrant. Interment will follow in Aiken Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:15am until the hour of service in the Parrish Hall. Mrs. McMillan, 92, of Aiken, died Thursday, June 25, 2009 at Eden Gardens.
Born in Kearny, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Florence Honold Tyrrell. Janet moved to Aiken in 1953. After graduating from high school, she attended Katherine Gibbs School. She was a member at St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church before becoming a parishioner at All Saints Anglican Church. While at St. Thaddeus she was instrumental in starting the St. Thaddeus Garden Tour with another member. Janet loved decorating, playing bridge, playing golf, cooking, sewing, traveling, and arranging flowers. She was dedicated to her family and a loving grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Senator Gilbert E. McMillan, daughter, Barbara McMillan Goodwin, brother, Donald Tyrrell, sister, Marion Horsey. She is survived by her daughter, Paula Charles, Sr. McFadden, Irmo, SC, brother, Rodney Dorothy Tyrrell, grandchildren, Elizabeth Meetze, Stephanie Baird, Chuck McFadden, Barbara McFadden, great grandchildren, John Allen Meetze, Melissa Meetze, Matthew Meetze, Charlie McFadden, Owen McFadden, and nine nieces.
