Obituary of James Wesley Williams Sr.
AIKEN, SC – James Wesley Williams Sr., age 73, entered into rest peacefully on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at his residence.
Jim was born August 3, 1944 in Findlay, Ohio to the late Richard J. Williams and the late Geraldine (Stevens) Williams. Jim spent 40 years in Commercial Construction, many as a Field Superintendent building schools, nursing homes, hospitals and health spas from his native Ohio to New York City, Boston, Florida, and Washington State.
He spent his retirement years building his own US Copyrighted Multi-family Condominium Community Design with his family in Aiken, SC (The Village at Pin Oak Farm).
Jim was extremely generous with his time and talents for helping others. He always thought of others first. He thoroughly enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in their various activities.
Jim’s hobbies included golf, racquetball, woodcrafting, cooking, drafting, and an all-around sports enthusiast. He was a communicant of both St. Michael’s Church in Kalida, OH and St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Aiken, SC. Jim was a life member of the Kalida Knights of Columbus, a volunteer with the Kalida Fire Department and EMS, and a Scout Master with Kalida Boy Scouts.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Williams. Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Sara Jane Patton Williams; his children, James Williams, Jr. (Amy), Grant Williams, Stephanie Bame (Jonathon), and Andrew Williams (Beth); grandchildren, Travis, Claire, Vincent, Dominic, Rachel, Grant, Zoe, Freda, Skylar, Leah, and Carter; his sister, Deborah Knueve (Daniel); a sister-in-law, Prudence Williams; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
A Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at the Old historic St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Park Ave., with the Very Rev. Gregory Wilson as celebrant.
