Aiken, SC ? Memorial services for Dr. Lyda M. Mac Arnett will be held Wednesday, November 30, 2005 at 3pm at St. John's United Methodist Church with Rev. George Howle officiating. Memorials may be directed to the Epworth Children?s Home, PO Box 50466, Columbia, SC 29250. George Funeral Homes, Historic Downtown Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Dr. Arnett, 89, died Friday, November 25, 2005 at Carriage Hills Living Center. Dr. Arnett was born on May 26, 1916 in Piedmont, WV to the late Lyda M. and Magdalena Dilgard Arnett. He received a bachelor?s degree from West Virginia Wesleyan College, a masters from the University of West Virginia, and a PH.D. in physical chemistry from the University of Illinois. He was employed by the Du Pont Company for over thirty seven years in Wilmington, DE, Wheaton, IL, and the Savannah River Site. He also taught Mathematics at Voorhees College and the University of South Carolina Aiken. He was a member of St. John United Methodist Church for fifty years where he was on the building committee for the sanctuary, superintendent of the Sunday school, and a Sunday school teacher. He was predeceased by his wife Alma Miller Arnett, and a brother, Henry Arnett. He is survived by his son, Roger Arnett, and daughter-in-law Brigitte of Prosperity, daughter, Mary Anne Todd and son-in-law Albert of Aiken, grandchildren, Michael Todd of Charlotte, NC, Julia Todd Bolin of Aiken, two great grandchildren, and a special friend, Ruth Marsh of Aiken.
