Roger, I was very sorry to read about your dad. I lost mine in 1988 and Mom is 96, but confined to the bed. I lost touch when you left Columbia. I get to Prosperity often, so will try to see you when I'm there. Please give my best to Mary Anne and again, my deepest sympathy....Bunny

Dear Roger and Brigitte,
We are so saddened to hear about your father's death. It sounds like he was an incredible man who will be sorely missed. He certainly left behind a fine legacy in his son. Although his passing is very painful for those left behind, it is comforting to know that he will now be in paradise now eternally. Please let us know if we can do anything for you during this difficult time.

My mother especially asked me to send a message in this forum.I was a childhood friend of Mr. Arnett's daughter and son and remember him fondly myself as the first person to expose me to Schwann's catalogue of recorded classical music. My mother was also a good friend of his equally nice wife. Each year we lose more and more of the people in Aiken who influenced us quietly with their intelligence and integrity. Some we get the chance to remember like this.
With sincere sympathy and gratitude, C. Claiborne Ray

We are saddened to hear the news. Dr Arnett was at our wedding 10 years ago and we still use daily the wedding gift he gave us. We know he was a fine man because of how wonderful Roger is and how Roger is so proud when he talked about his dad. Our condolences to Roger and Mary Ann and their families.

You have my great sympathy at the loss of a great man. My late husband Norman and I had the pleasure of knowing Mac and working with him during our years at SRL. After retirement we continued our acquaintance at Torch Club events. He was a remarkable man, whom we admired for his intellect and his integrity.

Roger, Mary Ann, While I will be at the service later today, I just wanted to tell you what an extraordinary man I thought your father was. The main reason for this was he never talked down to you, even if you were a high school twerp with a dumb question. He would always relate adult to adult. That is something many "adults" fail to do. It was easy to love him.
