AIKEN, SC - Gretchen Joan McClelland, age 58, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2016. Gretchen was born on November 13, 1957 in Johnstown, PA to Judith A. Hines and the late John J. Hines. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Earth and Space Science Education from Edinboro University. Gretchen was a resident of Aiken, SC since 1998 and an educator in the Columbia County School System. She enjoyed her pets, gardening, reading, and getting involved in the community. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, James McClelland; and a brother, Tim Hines. She is survived by her mother, Judith A. Hines; a daughter, Christina McClelland; a son, Jonathan McClelland (YoungMi Chun), Seoul, South Korea; a sister, Judith "Liz" Richard (Scott), Naples, FL; two brothers, Kevin Hines (Kimberly), Raleigh, NC and Christopher Hines (Bri), Bowie, MD; several nieces and nephews; and brothers-in-law, John McClelland (Jane) and Scott McClelland (Kim). A graveside committal service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Southlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service.
