Obituary of Fred S. Asbra

AIKEN, SC- Ferdinand S. Asbra (Fred), age 77, passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2015.
Fred was born June 26, 1938 in Fordyce, Nebraska to the late Otto and Teresa Bushelman Asbra. He proudly followed in his father's footsteps and served his country for eight years in the US Army and served during the Korean War. Fred had made Maryland his home before retiring to Aiken, SC. He was a Realtor for twenty years before entering construction sales. He was the former VFW Commander Maryland Post 10081 and a communicant of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church. He will be remembered for being extremely unselfish, very giving, and the best father ever.
In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by a brother Andrew and two sisters, Doris and Roberta.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Virginia Kruger Asbra; two sons, James Asbra (Angela), Newburg, MD and Patrick Asbra (girlfriend Lilly) White Plains, MD; two grandchildren, Joseph Asbra and Lindsay Asbra; a brother, Don Asbra (Darleene), Sioux Falls, SD; and a sister-in-law, Boo Molony, Aiken, SC.
A Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at the Old St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Park Ave., with Father Gregory Wilson as celebrant. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
