Funeral services for Mr. James Richard Carter will be held on Monday November 14, 2005 at 2:00 pm at Shiloh Baptist Church with Revs. Taylor Wells, Louie Anderson and Wayne Hunter officiating. Pallbearers will be Steve Smith, Todd Heath, Kevin Baughman, Tien Nguyen, Aaron Murrell and Ernest ?Bud? Hall. Interment will follow at Southlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be this evening at George Funeral Homes Historic Downtown Chapel, 211 Park Ave. SW Aiken from 6-8pm. Mr. Carter, 57, of Aiken, died Thursday, November 10, 2005 in Mountain Rest, SC. He was born in Walhalla, SC and had lived in Aiken since 1950. He married his wife Sheila in 1968 and then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1969. He proudly served his Country during the Viet Nam Conflict. He was the owner of Carter Pool Company for 30 years. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and was involved in many aspects of the church, including; being a former Chairman of the Deacons, Royal Ambassador Director, Sunday School Teacher, member of ?His Strings? and a member of the church Choir. He also coached the church basketball team. ?Mr. Rick? was well known for repairing old bicycles and giving them to children in need. He ministered to hundreds of children over fifteen years through the church van ministry. Mr. Carter was also a former member of the Aiken Jaycees. Mr. Carter is predeceased by his father, Lewis Wilson Carter. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sheila Poe Carter, Aiken, his mother; Mary Joan Carter, Aiken , a brother; Ron Regina Lewis Carter, three sisters; Toykia Loutricia Johnny Stephens, Greenwood, Mary Joyce Wayne Hunter, Sumter, SC and Kathy Lynette Dan Shreves, Clearwater, SC. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
