Obituary of Clifford W. Morrisset

Cliff was born in Madison, KS on May 20, 1924 to Clifford Morrisset and Margaret Bell Morrisset. He joined the Navy in 1942 and was stationed on the Submarine Busugo SS-321 were he served in the Pacific theater during WWII until 1946. Dedicated to helping others, he assisted in the rescue efforts during the April 1947, Texas City, TX disaster were hundred were killed and injured during massive explosions. Later he met and married Helen Wager Morrisset on September 1, 1949. He and Helen moved to Aiken in 1952 during the construction of the Savannah River Plant and had three children. He continued devoting himself to his community by volunteering many hours with the American Red Cross and an active member of the Civil Air Patrol from 1955 until he retired from E.I. DuPont in 1984. Helen predeceased him on January 22, 1988. He died at home were he lived with his daughter Susan on March 29, 2009 from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. He still continues to give to his community by his request to be donated to the Medical College of Georgia for medical student training. He is survived by one son, Lee Morrisset of Westminster, SC, two daughters, Susan Huff, Windsor, SC, and Carol Hinshaw, Beaverton, OR; granddaughters, errie Morris and her husband Jeremy Morris of New Bern, NC; Aubrey Trammel and her husband Josh Trammel of TX; and three great grandchildrens, Taylor Morris of New Bern, NC; Carly Trammel of TX; and Cody Morris of New Bern, NC; Sister-in-law, Roberta Hall of North Augusta Along with several nieces and nephews. Please donate in his honor to your favorite charity in lieu of flowers. A memorial service will be held at George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave, SW, Aiken on Saturday, April 25, 2009 at 11AM.
