Obituary of Frances Forrester Spencer

Frances Forrester Spencer, age 92, formerly of Aiken, died Thursday, March 28, 2013 at Presbyterian Retirement Community, Clinton, SC. George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Aiken, is assisting the Spencer family.
She was born in Sayreton, AL and was the daughter of the late William Ashby Forrester and Maude Weaver Forrester. Before moving to Clinton in 2004, she had lived in Aiken for fifty years.
From the mid-1960's to the 1980's she had worked as an administrator for Aiken/Barnwell Mental Health. Frances and her late husband, Bob were very active members of First Presbyterian Church where they were involved in the Stephen Ministry and had served as youth group leaders. She had also volunteered at Aiken Regional Medical Centers, serving as president of the Auxiliary for two years. She was passionate about her family, gardening, and playing bridge. During her years at the Presbyterian Home, she continued to stay active by serving on the Residents' Council.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Robert E. "Bob" Spencer and a great grandson, Joshua McNeal.
She is survived by two daughters, Teresa Ann "Terry" Spencer and son in law, Jim Williams, Aiken, SC and Sarah Elizabeth "Betsy" Spencer, Winston-Salem, NC; three grandchildren: Allison Williams Vincent, Warrenville, SC, Jenna Rose Williams and Spencer J. Williams, Aiken, SC. Frances was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A memorial service will take place on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at 2pm at First Presbyterian Church, Aiken, SC. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall. Interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens will be private.
